MANILA, Philippines — Residents of San Jose town in Occidental Mindoro will enjoy a non-working holiday tomorrow for the commemoration of the 80th Liberation Day of Mindoro Island from the Japanese occupation.
The holiday was provided under Proclamation 756 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Dec. 10.
maxim99Malacañang granted a request filed by the Office of the Mayor of San Jose to declare Dec. 16, a Monday, as a non-working day in lieu of today, a Sunday.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the municipality of San Jose be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.
“Desecration of the dead 'yan. May violation sa Revised Penal Code yun. Hindi rin nakakatawa yun eh,” the DOJ chief said.
The petition was filed as the third tranche of the funds, worth P30 billionmidori, was transferred to the treasury as scheduled yesterday. Unprogrammed appropriations are seen as the new congressional pork barrel.
