MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday directed its attached agencies to ensure that all sea vessels are seaworthy before venturing into the sea as the government expects an influx of travelers during the commemoration of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day or Undas.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista made the pronouncement after conducting an inspection at the Manila North Port Harbor just a day before the traditional commemoration of Undas.
Article continues after this advertisement“We always tell the [Philippine] Coast Guard to make sure the inspections on vessels are correct and sea worthy,” Bautista said in a mix of Filipino and English.

Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, he then reiterated the DOTr’s readiness during Undas 2024, adding that all facilities at the terminals are operational for passengers.
“DOTr is very prepared. Our order to all transport sectors is to prepare for Undas—make sure all facilities are operational,” Bautista added.
